Prevalence and associated risk factors of early childhood caries among 2 to 6 year old children in Mahe region of U.T of Puducherry, India

Background and Objectives: ECC being a preventable condition, is one of the most prevalent chronic neglected childhood diseases worldwide. The objectives study was to assess prevalence rate effect independent risk factors early caries so that we can implement preventive measures at earlier stages disease.Methods: 200 children 2 6 years old who were diagnosed with selected for after obtaining parental consent. parents these given dental health questionnaire evaluated sociodemographic details, dietary habits oral hygiene practices child. results then analysed using IBM® SPSS software. Results: found be 58.5% in statistically significant association education influencing knowledge found. showed bottle/breast feeding more than year, practice not rinsing mouth every meal sleeping without brushing snacks causation ECC. pattern breastfeeding frequency snacking had no ECC.Interpretation Conclusion: This provides strong promoting behaviours. So programmes mainly targeting people lower socioeconomic strata should employed. These educate on proper also importance regular check-ups.
